What Is Reflexology?

Reflexology  is a natural healing art based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet, hands, and ears, which correspond to every part, gland, and organ of the body. Basically what that means is when pressure is applied to the reflex points in the feet this helps relieve tension in different areas of the body. Many Reflexologists only work on the feet but others will also offer treatments incorporating the ears and hands. When a reflexologist looks at your feet, hands or ears they see as if they are looking at a road map of your whole body. At first this is hard to understand or believe but the believing is in the experience so it is well worth trying.

Reflexology Is Not A ‘Foot Massage’

Reflexology is much more than a foot massage.  While still somewhat new in Canada, reflexology has been practiced in some form or another since the time of ancient Egypt!   There are people all over the world who will attest to the help and relief that Reflexology has given them.  Whether it is gaining insight into their physiology, finding relief from chronic aches and pains, improving sleep or feeling more relaxed – reflexology can be effective for you!

Not all reflexology is the same!

The way that reflexology is generally accepted and described is that of a relaxation therapy. Indeed, it does produce a state of relaxation and invigoration, but its full potential is not generally recognised because the most effective techniques are not being used by the majority of reflexologists. Most of the techniques taught and used barely scratch the surface of therapeutic effectiveness!

Since Sharon started as a reflexologist in Newcastle England in 2008 she has continually experimented and then monitored the effects of different techniques and approaches to reflexology.

The training and accumulated experience have enabled the development of Different Reflexology Techniques, some of which are adapted and refined from existing practices, others are her own unique discoveries.  Sharon also trained in ART techniques during her degree programme in Integrated Medicine, with a student of Tony Porter.

Sharon discovered that many ailments are caused by hormonal imbalance – particularly hypothyroidism. A major cause of gynaecological complaints, infertility, constipation, heart disease, carpal tunnel syndrome, depression, weight gain/weight loss, low back pain and many more. This condition is often unsuspected by medical and naturopathic practitioners alike.

Sharon also teaches Certification in Reflexology on behalf of Footsteps School of Reflexology.  Sharon has also written her own programmes in Hand Reflexology and Advanced Reflexology.  Courses are open to all. Please see the training website at www.myholistictraining.com
